Flight... (2017)
This pilot Cine-Psych production used a mixture of found and bespoke footage to create a multi-dimensional piece about Bipolar Affective Disorder. This short film allows the viewer to experience “Flight of Ideas” as seen in those with hypomania, followed by a patient reflection on the experience. The film screened as part of the 2017 “Changing the Script” Mental Health film festival in Hamilton, Ontario
Pretty Good (2018)
Emily has a good job, a nice apartment and a comfortable life. Despite this, she struggles with managing a 'device' which keeps harassing her with unhelpful comments. Fed up, she sets out on a journey to repair things once and for all.
This first bespoke short, created by the Cine-Psych film making team, is a metaphorical piece focusing on Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
Buddy (2019)

"The Break Room"-Live at the Westdale Theatre (2022)
Junior Doctor Dr Amani Musa and ER lead Dr Barnes clash over ideas of mental health stigma during a break from a very typical weekend shift.
"The Break Room" is a bespoke theatrical production that featured in the CinePsych stage and screen event on October 26th. Designed to bridge CinePsych's "The Week/END" and "Can I help you?" short films, it is a pertinent commentary on Mental Health stigma in the medical profession which contributes to the high rates of substance misuse and suicide in the profession.
Can I help you? (2022)
Detective Jake Ferguson is hot on the tail of the evasive Mobster, Mulwray, until he meets a mysterious lady and the tables are turned. A metaphorical piece about Psychosis, the fourth film created by the McMaster University Department of Psychiatry Cine-Psych film team shows the blurring of reality that occurs during psychotic illness. It also provides a commentary on how assertive attempts at helping can be perceived by those who are unwell. The Script was directly informed by a focus group with those who had lived experience as we were striving for a film that was rooted in authenticity.
Growing up in hardship, Nadiya's trying to make it in the world by being everything others and social media expect her to be, until a series of mysterious packages makes her question the cost of her ambitions. The fifth production of the Cine-Psych film-making team references the social determinants of mental health with the script being informed by evidence based factors that can promote or detract from mental wellbeing.
In a future not far from now Chen is offered a gift to atone for a decade of loss, physical and emotional hardship. This critical metaphorical piece by the Cine-Psych film-making team challenges the idea of Medically Assisted Death as an empathetic solution for suffering in mental illness.
